Ginny.

Ginny was exactly the kind of person you would summarily dismiss - petite in height, bordering on mousey, with hazel hair that she kept tied at the nape of her neck in a tuft with a bit of wheat-coloured something. Someone you would place at a nondescript bookstore at an unmemorable town whose name you would have trouble remembering, mainly because the very air she had about her screamed garden variety commonality.

She was, however, very firmly planted at the magistrate's office in the small city that is Eldengard, as the secretary to the city magistrate, Bilbub Nebdy Hisself and was therefore routinely and reverentially ignored by guests after having politely informed her of their business there.

Most people wouldn't give her a second look, unless you were Percy Miles, the son of a wealthy fish merchant in the city. Percy was smitten with her and would often leave sweet apples on her desk and sometimes, an entire half of dried minnow, cured in the best smoked salt from distant land of Whenever.

It bears mentioning that Percy was only six, the archipelago of Wernver was where Wernver minnows were harvested, cured with smoke and salt, spiced then widely exported. It was also where two Serpent Lords ruled with their ships and assassins.

...

Ginny was poring over a piece of parchment with complicated lines, when she absently chewed on a sliver of salted minnow then promptly spitting it right back out.

That was not Wernver minnow and not Wernver salt. Certainly not Wernver pear and spice, neither, the grimace almost made it to the surface but she expertly wiped it away, betraying nothing, save the expelled bit of fish.

Leave no trace, Syriel had said to her, leave no story.

She tucked the offending sliver into a bit of parchment and placed it into her satchel.

There were far tastier fish to begin with, but since it had been some time since last tasted Wernver fish... It was at this time when there was a loud crash from magistrate Nebdy's office, followed by a loud "GINNY".
